The Root of Slicing
Slicing happens when your ball curves in a left-to-right motion across the sky. Your shot may start out straight or may even start out going right. Both scenarios however show that your ball is actually spinning in a clockwise direction.
There are two main causes for slicing. Both of which can be corrected by hitting an offset iron such as the Response. In the first scenario, your club head is open (pointing to the right of the target) at the time of impact. Here you will see your shot actually going right of the target from the start. The second cause has to do with the swing plane that points to the target and is parallel to your stance. When your swing starts outside of this plane yet ends on the inside, slicing will often occur.
Hitting an Offset Can Mean Hitting Longer
How does the Response iron help correct a slice? The actual offset number of a club is the distance between the parallel plane of the leading edge of the hosel to the leading edge line of the sole. The Response irons have been designed with a progressive offset (ranging from 6.75mm to 4.25mm) for each club that helps to “reset” your launch angle toward the aimed target and reduce clockwise sidespin. By fighting your swings’ natural tendency to either open the clubface or swipe the ball out-to-in (or both), the offset iron effectively straightens your shot and get you closer to the target.
Super High MOI with Perimeter Weighting

High Moment of inertia (or MOI) means more forgiveness. The Response offset irons feature a wider face area and effectively larger sweet spot. This is accomplished through a deep cavity with massive perimeter weighting.
Softer Feel with More Power
304 Stainless Steel was chosen for the Response irons to make them extra soft. Feel is just as importance as distance and accuracy. The Response irons were created for players who dislike the “harsh” feedback that can occur with off-center shots. Despite the supple feel of the Response irons, there is no compromise when it comes to power. Designed with Alpha’s Max CT (Maximum Contact Time) technology, the progressively placed center of gravity location in each iron ensure more power is transferred. This helps to increase energy transfer to the ball and will add yards to each shot.
Lie Bendable Up to 5°
304 Stainless Steel make the Response offset irons fully customizable for height. The lie of the irons are bendable by up to 5°. Customizing the lie is especially beneficial for players that are shorter or taller than average and can greatly increase the accuracy of your shot.
